Source pathway descriptionEnhanced rock weathering (ERW) using crushed olivine mineral applied to farmland. Olivine is a 1:1 replacement for agricultural lime to reduce soil acidity. Rain and soil acidity dissolve the olivine, which increases soil pH, improves soil health, and absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere. The mineral ultimately ends up in rivers and makes its way to the ocean, permanently sequestering carbon.
