Privacy notice
Effective date: 12 September 2026
Carbon Curve Intelligence is operated by Na’im Merchant as a project of The Carbon Curve. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or account deletion, contact naim.merchant@gmail.com.
What the product collects and why
- Account details: your email address, name and optional workplace affiliation when provided, account status and plan, verification details, and sign-in or connector credentials. These let us authenticate you and provide account features. The product stores hashes of its issued credentials. It does not use passwords.
- Your research workspace: saved records, private notes, watches and matches, Ask questions, answers, source links, research traces and processing status. These let you return to your work, receive requested alerts and investigate problems. They are associated with your account. Ask questions and relevant conversation context are sent to the AI provider when you submit them.
- Operational information: feature-use events, recent activity, rate-limit information, request timestamps, model usage and costs, and errors. These help us operate, protect and improve the service. Sign-in and signup protection use network addresses. Our hosting provider also processes connection and security information when you visit.
- Email preferences and messages: subscriptions, unsubscribe history and delivery records, plus messages you send us for support or feedback. These support account emails and the notifications you request.
Service providers and outside tools
Cloudflare hosts the application, database, archived source material, backups and Ask jobs. Anthropic processes Ask questions and research context, generates answers and performs the web research used by Ask. Information included in a search may reach search services and the public sites consulted. We do not intentionally include your account email in Ask’s research prompt, but anything you type into a question can become part of that research.
Resend delivers account and notification emails. If you choose Google sign-in, Google verifies your identity and provides basic account information, including your verified email and profile name.
If you connect the plugin to an outside assistant, that assistant receives the records and any saved material you authorize its tools to retrieve. Its provider’s terms and data settings apply separately. Following a source link also takes you to that publisher’s service.
Providers may process information outside Canada. Their processing and retention are subject to their service arrangements and applicable laws. Avoid submitting confidential or sensitive personal information to Ask unless you are comfortable sending it to the services involved.
Cookies, saved work and retention
An essential sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days; signing out invalidates that session. A short-lived cookie protects Google sign-in. Browser storage remembers your display theme and a pending Ask question. CCI records feature usage in its own database; the application does not include advertising trackers.
Ask stores questions and answers so you can reopen them. It also maintains a short-lived answer cache; completed answers to equivalent questions may be reused. Saved notes and watches are account-scoped. These features are not a confidential-document vault.
During the beta, account records and research history do not yet have a universal automatic deletion schedule. You can remove saved items, notes and watches yourself and request access, correction or deletion of your account and associated information by email. Deletion requests require identity verification. Information needed for security, resolving a dispute or a legal obligation may need to be retained; backups and provider copies may remain for their retention periods. We will explain any applicable limit when handling your request.
Your choices
The optional Carbon Curve newsletter checkbox on signup records a separate newsletter preference. The Record email is optional and currently paused. Account creation does not subscribe you. You may explicitly opt in from Account and unsubscribe there at any time. Watch alerts follow the watches you create; remove a watch from Saved to stop its alerts. Essential sign-in and account messages are separate from these optional updates.
You can choose email sign-in instead of Google, browse public pages without an account, and use the Archive without sending an Ask question. Contact us to exercise privacy rights, withdraw consent where applicable, or raise a concern. Some account features cannot operate without the information they require.
We will date updates to this notice and explain material changes to how personal information is used before introducing them.
